about

My EMT/Firefighter brother-in-law helped a woman and her daughter clear out a storage space after their daughter/sister died (too young) of diabetes. One of the items was an angel figurine which they gave to him and he gave to my mother. I promised to write a song... I think about that young girl often, and the life she never had, and what she might see through the eyes of her angel statue.

lyrics

Faceless Angel, tell me what you see.
Faceless Angel, if you were given eyes like me.
When I close my eyes I see your smile
looking down on me.
What do you see when you look back at me?

We suffer our discomfort
in many different ways.
Some fight back, some scream out,
some hold their tears and pray.
We may not need a savior,
but we do need to be saved

We challenge every moment
and push beyond our shame.
Some grow up, some stay half-grown,
some are just depraved.
We may not need a savior,
but we do need to be saved.

Faceless Angel, tell me what you see.
Faceless Angel, if you were given eyes like me.
When I close my eyes I see your smile
looking down on me.
What do you see when you look back at me?

We disavow rejection, an agonizing trait.
Some hold on, some let go,
some just walk away.
We may not need a savior,
but we do need to be saved.

We cling to our misfortunes
as if they were a break.
Some find luck, some find love,
some have lost their way.
We may not need a savior,
but we do need to be saved

Faceless Angel, tell me what you see.
Faceless Angel, if you were given eyes like me.
When I close my eyes I see your smile
looking down on me.
What do you see when you look back at me?

What do you see? What do you see? Oh...
What do you see when you look back at me?
Tell me what you see, when you look back at me?
